Commercial and industrial premises
Key Integrated Systems has provided specialist fire detection services to businesses for over 35 years, and is at the forefront of new developments in the industry. You can rely upon us to give you the right advice and ensure that your systems comply with all the necessary regulations.
What type of fire detection system do you need?
Fire systems fall broadly into two groups: conventional fire systems, or analogue addressable fire systems. Key Integrated Systems will help you decide which one is right for you.
Conventional fire systems:
Conventional fire detection systems protect hundreds of thousands of premises throughout the UK and have done so for many years. Whilst they have improved greatly in terms of design and reliability, the technology has largely remained the same. The main control panel will receive a signal from a conventional fire detector or call point. It will then trigger other devices such as alarms and remote signalling. Conventional fire systems remain excellent solutions for smaller premises, but do not have the flexibility required for larger, more complex sites.
Analogue Addressable fire systems:
These add more flexibility and speed of identification to your fire detection system and are ideal for large sites. A number of detectors are wired in one or more 'loops' around your premises. Each detector has its own unique address (location and number), and communicates individually with a main control panel. Detectors can communicate intelligently, providing information on heat or smoke levels and other faults. With Analogue Addressable systems, the exact location of an incident can be quickly identified and dealt with. They can also be networked, and linked to a pager system.
We service all makes of fire extinguisher to BS5306. KIS engineers are approved to inspect and maintain portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets. Fire extinguishers that are not maintained annually to the standard are no longer considered compliant.
Under the British Standard an extended service (otherwise known as a discharge testing) is to be carried out at the stipulated intervals. For water / foam / dry powder or wet chemical this is every 5 years and every 10 years for a CO2. If the extinguisher is a powder or CO2 you will be offered a service exchange unit which will work out more economical than in the case of the powder emptying (not practical on site) and refilling or a CO2 returning to the factory for a vacuum test and replacing the valve. Our Service Department will remind you when your annual service is due and make the necessary arrangements for an engineer to visit.
